It was a breakout workshop session that was open to all attendees of the conference. I focused on cultivating an afterschool program space that allows Black girls to be seen, heard, uplifted, and inspired. The session also highlighted destructive stereotypes about Black girls and women and the ways that they harm Black girls and women in educational spaces and our wider society.
Defunding Private Interests, Defending Public Schools
is a book by 15 Miami University (Oxford, OH) doctoral students in Educational Leadership and their professor to understand and challenge the voucher and charter school movements in Ohio and beyond. Dormetria's work is included in Chapter 4: Is School Choice Our Hope? An Imminent Hidden Tragedy, focuses on the effects of the charter school movement on scholars, families, and teachers.
